In a rare achievement, nine of the ten partners of the litigation boutique Novack and Macey LLP have been named “Leading Lawyers” in Illinois. The Novack and Macey partners named as “Leading Lawyers” were the nine most senior attorneys in the firm. The firm’s tenth and youngest partner, Monte Mann, was recently named to the prestigious “40 Under 40” list of top young lawyers in Illinois by the same company that publishes the Leading Lawyers Network, the Law Bulletin Publishing Company.

Separately, eight Novack and Macey partners have been named Illinois “Super Lawyers.” Illinois Super Lawyers are selected by the publishers of Law & Politics magazine. The Super Lawyers list appears annually in the February issues of Chicago Magazine and Illinois Super Lawyers.

A lawyer cannot buy the distinction of being either a “Leading Lawyer” or “Super Lawyer” -- in contrast to other compiled lists of attorneys. Only lawyers who were most often recommended by their peers in surveys are given these designations.

Novack and Macey, which was termed “a high-powered litigation boutique” by the Chicago Tribune, is a trial law firm that concentrates on complex commercial cases. Founded in 1984, the firm represents corporations, institutions, investment ventures, partnerships and individuals.

The Sun-Times described the firm as “a small firm known for a bulldog manner in litigation.” Novack and Macey’s 29 lawyers have successfully resolved business disputes in cases ranging from banking, contracts, class actions, energy, racketeering, securities and real estate, to partnerships and closely-held corporations, antitrust, insurance coverage, intellectual property, environmental matters, business law violations, and employment-related issues.

The Leading Lawyers Network profiles lawyers who are leaders within their areas of law and their region. The publisher surveys lawyers, asking them which of their peers, including their competitors, they would recommend to a family member or friend if they could not take a case themselves. Lawyers cannot nominate themselves or anyone at their own law firm. Based on survey nominations and approval by an advisory board, only the top lawyers, not exceeding five percent of lawyers statewide, are nominated and eligible for membership in the Leading Lawyers Network.
