Novack and Macey won a resounding victory at trial on behalf of its client Jenine Howard, a professional recording artist. Ms. Howard's former record label alleged, among other things, that she breached her recording contract by not participating in the marketing of her album and by recording with another label. The record company also alleged that Ms. Howard wrongfully interfered with a contract between the plaintiff and one of its staff producers. The plaintiff sought damages of approximately five million dollars and an order prohibiting Ms. Howard from performing or recording for nine years. After a two day bench trial, Judge William O. Maki of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois entered judgment in favor of Ms. Howard and against plaintiff on all counts. Donald A. Tarkington and John Haarlow, Jr. successfully tried the case on behalf of Ms. Howard.
