Shelby L. Drury

BIOGRAPHY

Shelby Drury represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters including shareholder disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, employment discrimination, consumer and common law fraud, breach of contract and tort claims.  She is experienced in directing case strategy and handling all aspects of litigation, including preparing and arguing dispositive motions, negotiating settlements, working with experts and taking and defending depositions. 

In one recent case handled by Shelby involving the breach of loan agreements, the other party consented on eve of trial to entry of judgment against them for the entire amount of claims plus interest and attorneys' fees. She also helped obtain a multi-million dollar settlement in a fraud and breach of contract dispute, helping draft a successful motion for summary judgment disposing of the other party's affirmative defenses, and by drafting and arguing successful motions to exclude evidence.

In the successful defense of a case involving claims of breach of fiduciary duty and violation of the Illinois Business Corporation Act, Shelby examined witnesses and argued motions to exclude evidence at the federal bench trial.

Shelby was a summer associate at Novack and Macey in 1997 and joined the Firm as an associate in 1998 after graduating from Northwestern University School of Law.

Shelby is a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
